Chapter Ten

Delaney sat at the edge of her pool, her feet in the water, holding her phone to her ear, trying not to let her sister hear the panic in her voice.

“I did something really stupid,” Delaney said, blowing out a breath.

“What? It can’t be that bad. You know I have an alert set up for your name and nothing’s happened. You’re not trending.”

Delaney didn’t even know where to begin. She probably had to tell Rebecca how she met Kaelynn, otherwise none of it would make sense.

“So, you know how I walked in on two women kissing at that gay bar?” Delaney said.

“Yeah.”

“And you know how I kind of... Panicked?”

“Yeah,” Rebecca said.

“Well, one of the women helped me get home okay. I nearly fainted.” Delaney sighed. “The usual. But she was really kind, and we ended up talking. About the movie. And she offered to help, to give me some advice.”

“Oh, that’s great.”

“Yeah. It was. I guess. But we ended up going through a scene and we... Kissed.”

“What?”

Delaney could hear her sister gasp. “Yeah,” Delaney said, glancing over at the spot where Kaelynn had backed her up against the wall of the pool and kissed her. “I mean, it was in the script, but I hadn’t expected it to happen. Anyway, I uh... I kissed her back.”

“YES!”

Delaney held the phone away from her while her sister cheered. After a few seconds Delaney brought it back to her ear. “Are you done?”

“No. I’m not done. That’s huge, Delaney.”

“Hmm. I also told her. That I’m gay.”

“Jesus Christ,” Rebecca said, and Delaney could hear the smile in her voice. “Who is this woman? Getting your deepest, darkest secrets and a kiss. All in one day?”

“Yeah.” Delaney couldn’t believe that night was almost a week ago.

She hadn’t wanted to make this call, but Kaelynn was going to be here later, and Delaney was starting to freak out. She had to talk to her sister. Rebecca always knew what to do.

“So that’s the really stupid thing you did?” Rebecca said with a laugh. “Are you worried she’ll go to the press or something?”

“No. She’d signed an NDA already, with the script and everything.”

“So, what’s the problem? I don’t get it.”

Delaney’s entire body tingled anytime she thought about that kiss. And she’d thought about it every single day since it’d happened.

What was the problem?

Kaelynn seemed like a player. Delaney didn’t even know if this was about Kaelynn. Maybe she would have felt this way if Clara had been her first kiss.

Although, at the back of mind, Delaney knew the answer to that. She did find Kaelynn attractive. She had that first night when Kaelynn had brought her back here.

“Delaney? You still there?”

“Yeah. I’m here.” Delaney didn’t even know how to explain it, but she was somehow more unsure of herself now than when she’d first read the script.

“Do you like her?” Rebecca asked.

Delaney sighed. “I don’t know.”

“Well, what about the kiss? How was it?”

Delaney smiled. “Amazing.”

“Okay, well there you go.”

“What if it was just because she was a woman?”

“No.
